The Great Manchester 10K Charity Run

On a glorious hot sunny Sunday, nearly 40,000 runners arrived in Manchester to take part in one of Europes biggest 10K running events. Seven of those runners were representing Trouvay & Cauvin UK.

The event saw the participation of some of the worlds biggest athletic names, Bekele (first)Kipsang (second), and Mokoko (third) in the mens race, with the world and Olympic 10,000 champion Tirunesh Dibaba taking first place in the womens race with Britains Gemma Steel finishing second.

Among the 40,000 entrants at Europe's biggest 10km running event were footballers, soap stars, newscasters and regional personalities.

Organisers of the event estimated that over £6m had been pledged in sponsorship money.

The event had a party atmosphere with music from live bands and radio stations Key 103 and XFM all along the route, which started on Portland Street and passed Old Trafford and Salford Quays before ending on Deansgate.

Once over the finishing line the triumphant T&C team, with medals in hand,  retreated to a local watering hold for some well earned liquid refreshment.

Well done to the team and their charities and a big thank you to all those who supported them!
