Trouvay & Cauvin has developed an excellent range of Speciality Piping Products (SPP's) to enhance our product range, from filtration/strainer equipment to products required for safety functions. These products enable customers to package large and small values of SPP's in the knowledge that T&C has both the manufacturing support and competence to provide this quality service.
The same dedication to compliance, which pervades the T&C Group, applies equally to Speciality Piping Products.
FILTERS & STRAINERS
Filters
SIMPLEX BASKET FILTERS
- High pressure applications.
- Suitable for separation of the finest impurities in gases and liquids.
- Designed and fabricated to ASME VIII Div.1 as standard but can also be supplied to other pressure vessel codes. I.e. ASME B31.3 etc.
- Standard features include low pressure drops at high velocities, stainless steel perforated baskets as standard, vents and drains with the possibility to supply davit lifts, quick open closures, differential pressure gauges.
DUPLEX BASKET FILTERS
-
In addition to all features of a simplex filter, a duplex filter will have the additional advantage to allow maintenance without interrupting the process flow.
CARTRIDGE FILTERS
ACTIVATED CARBON & SEPARATOR FILTERS
- This filter uses a double bottom chamber separated by a welded reinforced steel plate. The upper chamber contains the granular activated carbon and the lower chamber is empty and collects the filtered water. The plate is covered by "mushroom" diffusers, which are plastic made, slotted conical units. The uniform dispersion of water ensures an effective wash of the whole media volume, avoiding the phenomena of channelling (caking). The filters are particularly suitable for back-flushing - a process involving reversal of the water flow and causing a turbulent expansion of the media like a fluidized bed.
- After the back-flushing is completed, the filter resumes its normal filtering mode as a new filter.
SELF-CLEANING FILTERS
Strainers
- Designed to ASME B16.34 the strainer bodies are produced with a superior wall thickness for corrosion allowance.
- Standard strainers are equipped with screens for the average service of most mediums (steam, gas, air, oil, chemicals , etc. ).
- The large screen open area ensures an efficient filtering action with a low pressure drop.
- Filtering area to inlet area ratio is larger than 3 to 1.
- Screens area manufactured with perforated plate in the materials and with the perforation specified in the relevant tables.
- Different filtrations or materials are available on request.
Y-TYPE STRAINERS - Forged, Cast & Fabricated
- For all pressure applications.
- Designed and fabricated to B1634 (Forged/Cast) and ASME VIII Div (Fabricated) as standard but can be supplied to other pressure vessel design codes.
- Standard features include low pressure drops at high velocities, stainless steel perforated baskets as standard, vents and drains with the possibility to supply davit lifts, quick open closures, differential pressure gauges.

FLAME ARRESTERS & TANK FURNITURE
Flame Arresters
A Flame Arrester uses an element with small apertures which allows gas or vapour to pass. If the apertures are smaller than the maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) for the gas or vapour then a flame cannot pass through the arrester, and is subsequently contained or extinguished.
END OF LINE deflagration arresters with replaceable elements are designed to be installed at the end of a pipeline or exit vent from a vessel, where the ignition source is external, to provide protection against atmospheric deflagration.
- AVA SERIES
- AVC SERIES
- FE-EXH SERIES
- FE-IE SERIES
- SV SERIES
- SVE SERIES
End of line deflagration arresters are designed to be used in conjunction with pressure/vacuum relief valves, to prevent propagation of flames in gas or vapour mixtures. FE-IE arresters are specifically designed to be located below the inlet of a pressure/vacuum relief valve, thereby providing an extra layer of tank protection. FE-IE arresters are supplied as complete units ready for direct installation into piping systems.
Light duty end of line deflagration arresters with fixed elements are designed for installation at the end of a pipeline or on an atmospheric vent from vessels where flammable gases or vapours may be present. SV arresters provide an economical solution for situations where a simple light weight product is required. Typical applications include gas purging of equipment, sample lines and instrumentation lines.
IN-LINE deflagration arresters with replaceable elements in close proximity to the potential source of ignition, any flame or explosion is confined to the immediate area. DFB & DFC arresters are supplied as complete units ready for direct installation into piping systems. In the context of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
- DFB SERIES
- DFC SERIES
- SGE-IB DEF SERIES
- MB - IB DEF SERIES
By locating the SGE-IB In-line Deflagration arrester in close proximity to the potential source of ignition, any flame or explosion is confined to the immediate area. SGE-IB Def. arresters are supplied as complete units ready for direct installation into piping systems. In the context of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
The Microbore in-line deflagration Arresters is specially designed for the protection of gas sampling and analysis equipment where flammable vapours are present. Many other applications involving small bore pipework can be protected from explosion risk using microbore arresters.
IN-LINE unstable detonation Arresters with replaceable elements are designed to prevent propagation of detonations in gas or vapour mixtures.
In-line unstable detonation arresters are specifically designed for pipelines with a significant distance between the ignition source and the arrester, or for use where the pipe is rough, bent, obstructed or has section changes.

Tank Furniture
EMERGENCY RELIEF MANHOLE COVERS
Emergency relief vents permit access to low pressure storage tanks and provide emergency venting in the event of fire. Non-sparking, low pressure access manways offer easy entry to low-pressure storage tanks for maintenance and cleaning.

PRESSURE TANK BLANKETING VALVES
Tank blanketing valves offer complete protection to the storage tank product against contamination and to the storage tank itself against rupture or damage. In addition to preventing outside air and moisture from entering the storage vessel, a blanket gas pressure reduces the evaporation of the stored product to a negligible amount.
» Nominal Bore: 15mm, 20mm, 50mm, 100mm
PRESSURE/VAC VALVES
Pressure / vacuum relief valves (also known as breather valves, conservation vents, or safety vents) are used extensively on bulk storage tanks, including fixed roof tanks with floating covers, to minimise evaporation loss. The valves prevent the build up of excessive pressure or vacuum which can unbalance the system or damage the storage vessel
» Nominal Bore: 2”, 3”, 4”, 6”, 8”, 10”, 12”
RIM VENTS
Free vents are designed for use on any atmospheric tank to prevent the build-up of internal pressure, by allowing atmospheres and vapours to flow freely in tanks or vent riser pipes.
» Size: 2”-12”
» Connections: ANSI 150# (Standard), PN10/PN16, Special
» Materials: Aluminium, Cast Iron, Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel
